In Somalia, thousands of orphans face the harsh reality of life. These vulnerable children find themselves either alone or under the care of grandparents or other relatives. Unfortunately, those who kindly take in these orphans often find it financially difficult, given the dominant struggles many families endure. The additional responsibility of providing for another mouth to feed makes the daily challenge of putting food on the table nearly challenging.
Despite the admirable efforts of guardian families, providing life basics such as nourishing meals, clean clothes, and quality education becomes an even more challenging task. Your support can make a big difference in these orphans' lives by ensuring they receive the care they deserve.

In the Horn of Africa, millions grapple with the challenge of securing access to safe water. The relentless impact of climate change has led to consecutive failures of rainy seasons, resulting in persistent and severe droughts in countries such as Somalia and Djibouti. These droughts have claimed the lives of thousands of animals, pushing communities to the brink of survival. For two decades, the African Relief Fund's Water Programme has been steadfastly collaborating with affected communities in the semi-arid regions of Somalia and Eastern Ethiopia, using various methods to provide essential clean water.
In the face of an ongoing drought that has affected a staggering 90% of countries like Somalia, Djibouti, and Ethiopia, the need for urgent intervention has never been more critical.

In the Horn of Africa, the most disadvantaged face the daunting challenge of securing nourishment to break their fasts. We provide food to families who are on the brink of starvation across this region, where a staggering 40% of the population grapples with undernourishment. This Ramadan, as families strive to find sustenance for both Suhoor and Iftar, we once again turn to you, counting on your Zakat and Sadaqah contributions.
African Relief Fund eases the suffering of food poverty through our food aid project. While our project operates year-round, during Ramadan, we intensify our efforts. We distribute food packs and organise hot means (iftars) for underprivileged people throughout this blessed month.

African Relief Fund actively combats food poverty through our food distribution project. We provide essential food packs to families in need, containing non-perishable items that are rich in nutrition. These parcels are created to sustain an average-sized family for three weeks, safeguarding against hunger and ensuring that children receive nourishment without parents having to sacrifice their meals.
In the past year alone, our efforts resulted in feeding 1000 adults and 12,500 children underscoring the great reach of our food distribution project.

Ramadan is a great time when people eagerly unite for worship and enjoyment of a fulfilling meal after a day of fasting - a highly anticipated event. Three consecutive failed rainy seasons have resulted in acute water shortages, leading to displacement, a surge in diarrhoea-related deaths, and an alarming rise in malnutrition. Presently, 3.5 million people are grappling with extreme hunger, facing the imminent threat of starvation.
This Ramadan, we urgently need to improve our initiatives to provide vital food aid to the millions affected by the prolonged drought in Somalia.

Donate NowIn Ramadan 2024, we successfully provided 1470 food packs to the targeted areas in the Horn of Africa. Our efforts included distributing Ramadan family parcels to hundreds of needy families. As a result, over 9000 individuals and their families benefited from our nutritious food parcels.
More than a hundred people received much-needed cash assistance for their basic needs. Your zakat made it possible for these individuals to access essential items like food, clothing, and shelter, improving their living conditions and ensuring their well-being during Ramadan. Zakat-Ul-Fitr or Fitrana was distributed to people in need, allowing them to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr happily. Your contributions enabled us to provide this particular charity to the less fortunate, ensuring they could also join the festivities of Eid and experience the joy of the occasion.
