In many African countries, the state education system is wholly inadequate. Since the year 2000, ARF has been building and running schools across the country. We also fund teacher training programmes for local teachers who couldn’t qualify as teachers following the collapse of government institutions.
Our programme enables teachers to gain skills that make them better equipped to teach the national curriculum.
We operate the schools we build for the first three years. Afterward, we hand them over to the host communities. Many schools in Somalia don’t have running water, safe toilets, proper meals, or transportation. ARF has introduced several projects at schools to solve these problems.

Based on where the need is greatest, we’ve built schools in remote, rural villages and major cities, including Mogadishu, Baidoa, Hudur, Beletwenyne, Dinsor, Bosaso, Hargeisa, and Borma. We have sponsored several teacher training programmes in Mogadishu, Bosaso (Puntland region), and Hargeisa (Somaliland region). We’ve also received applications to build schools in Ethiopia and Gambia. With your support, we’re in the process of expanding our Education Programme to those countries.
Help Build a SchoolDespite our concerted efforts and success rate, there is still a huge need. ARF is working hard to address: You can support ARF’s Education Programme so that more children can receive the education they deserve.
We have a collective enrolment of 25,000+ students of all ages, and we’re trying to increase that.
While opening 70 schools in African areas, we’ve received applications to open schools in Ethiopia and Gambia.
We’ve got a waiting list of 100 secondary school teachers who’ve applied for teacher training.
We’re trying to get equipment, furniture, textbooks, and facilities for new and existing schools.
Going to school is the right of every child, wherever they are. Help us support our Education Programme by sponsoring £10 for one child’s schooling and £1,00 for the teacher’s salary for a month, £1000 for furniture and equipment for a classroom, £2,000 for rainwater harvesting programme, £5,000 for school rehabilitation, and £1,5000 for IDP schools.
