Aqiqah is a Sunnah, a special tradition, which Muslims observe following the birth of a child. It symbolises the parents’ gratitude towards Allah SWT for bestowing them with a new life. This practice involves the sacrifice of livestock, typically goats or sheep. The act of Aqiqah is deeply rooted in Islamic history, with even the Prophet Mohamed ﷺ himself contributing to this tradition after the birth of his own children, emphasising its magnitude. It usually takes place on the seventh day after birth. However, you can do it at a later time.
