Save an Eye
In the heart of Africa, thousands of people are living in darkness due to preventable blindness caused by cataracts. At ARF, we are committed to restoring sight and transforming lives.
In rural and conflict-affected regions of Somalia, access to healthcare is extremely limited. Cataracts, though easily treatable, remain one of the leading causes of blindness—preventing people from working, caring for their families, or living with dignity. Without timely treatment, thousands remain needlessly blind.
Why This Matters:
Help us reach our goal of £1,000,000
Through our Eye Cataract Operations Project, African Relief Fund delivers life-changing care where it’s needed most.
A 15-minute procedure restores sight safely and effectively.
Working with specialist teams in Beledweyne, Mogadishu, and Beled-Hawo.
Sight restored for over 500 men and women, enabling independence and dignity.
"I and the one who looks after an orphan will be like this in Paradise," — and he held his two fingers together [index and middle finger]. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 5304)
Preventable Blindness Is a Global Crisis:
At African Relief Fund, we are closing this gap by delivering life-changing cataract surgeries to those who would otherwise remain in darkness—restoring sight, dignity, and independence in just minutes.
Together we make impossible possible. Discover more about what we do here.

Amina, a 62-year-old grandmother from Somalia, spent three years in darkness—unable to see the faces of her grandchildren. Blind in both eyes due to cataracts, her world slowly closed in.
Thanks to generous donors like you, Amina received a simple, life-changing surgery. When the bandages were removed, tears of joy filled her eyes as she saw her family again.
“I got my life back,” she said softly—hope restored, dignity renewed.
